Dog / Mix - Asked 1165 days ago
Our 6-month-old Toy Poodle & Maltese mix had neutering surgery on February 16th. It's been five days but she's still not herself. (Pre-op) She plays with toys a lot. Comes running as soon as I bring out her food. Comes out of the cage as soon as I open it. Jumps onto me and begs for attention. Uses the toilet 4-5 times a day. (Post-op) She won't play with toys, won't even come over when I call her. Takes a long time to finish her food, and won't drink water on her own. Doesn't come out of her cage when I open it. Even if she moves, she looks afraid and runs away, and sits down. Cannot use the toilet. Urinates/defecates only once a day. I'm guessing it's because of the stress from staying at the vet overnight and having the Elizabeth collar on, but according to the internet it only takes about three days for dogs to regain their energy after surgery. We're planning on removing the stitches on the 27th, so I want to see how she does until then, but I'm pretty worried.
