A suspected case of HCM in a cat

Patient information: -Mixed breed cat -Neutered male -4yrs 2mths old -7.4kg -No medical history The patient had no medical history, but visited our clinic complaining of rough breathing and having difficulty in breathing from that morning. At the time of examination, the patient had accelerated respiration, was panting and had cyanosis. A chest x-ray showed increased density in the lungs so we decided to perform only a cardiac ultrasound. We didn't have time to place electrocardiogram monitors so the ultrasound doesn't show results on electrocardiograms. We only had minimum information, but we confirmed there was no cardiac tamponade and suspected congestive heart failure from cardiomyopathy, since we saw the expansion of the left atrium and thickening of the cardiac muscles. We placed an intravenous catheter for furosemide injection while letting the patient breathe through an oxygen mask. We used furosemide at 1mg/kg four times total with 30 minutes in between while checking its effect. Then we switched to CRI at 0.5mg/kg/hr. The following day the density in the lungs showed a little improvement, but overall condition deteriorated in the afternoon and cyanosis was seen again even inside the oxygen room. The owner couldn't bear seeing the patient in pain any longer and requested euthanization, so we did as requested. -In this case, we could barely perform any tests because the patient's condition was so poor. If there were any points needing improvement regarding the process of diagnosis and treatment, please give us advice. -I'm not sure if this case was really of congestive heart failure, but assuming it was, were the doses of furosemide appropriate for treatment? We usually see more dogs than cats with MR and congestive heart failure plus pulmonary edema, and we've experienced sudden changes in their condition even when we'd given furosemide subcutaneously several times. In cases like those we sometimes see liquid (from pulmonary edema) come out from the intubation tube and make us wonder if the dose of furosemide wasn't enough. Are there any guidelines for doses and the number of administrations in using furosemide? -We have an injection of vetmedin (0.75mg/kg) imported from overseas but haven't been able to use it from lack of knowledge on doses and injection methods. Please let me know if you know anything about doses and injection methods when using it on dogs and cats. If you have any advice on where we could've done more or which test we needed to run, that would be very useful.
